Ingredients:

  • 1/4 tsp baking powder
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 3 tbsp whole milk
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 1/4 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tbsp chocolate chips
  • 1 tbsp hot water

Instructions:

  1. In a 12-ounce microwave-safe mug, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, sugar, baking powder, and salt until the mixture is a uniform color and no clumps remain.
  2. Add the milk, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract to the dry ingredients. Stir gently with a fork, ensuring you scrape the bottom corners, until the batter is smooth. Fold in the chocolate chips.
  3. Pour the tablespoon of hot water or coffee directly into the center of the batter. Do not stir it in.
  4. Microwave on high for 60 to 75 seconds. The cake is ready when the edges are matte and set, but the center still appears slightly damp. Allow to rest for 2 minutes before eating.
